Lady Tigers working hard on their GPA Program

Media_http1bpblogspot_fggnh
You've no doubt noticed that your Lady Tigers have been out in the community a great deal and especially involved with young kids in schools. It all be design and part of a program that Lady Tigers have started called GPA -- which stands for Goals, Perseverance and Achievement. They are joined in partnership with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

"One of the important things about being a collegiate basketball program is the way you can effect young people and communities beyond the basketball court," said Van Chancellor. "Giving back has always been a priority for Lady Tiger Basketball and we are proud to continue that legacy."

Coach Chancellor's First Ride in the Van Wagon

Media_http2bpblogspot_bxamd
TOM HARLUKOWICZ (11-04-09):
Despite being at a number of the same appearances already, today was Coach Chancellor’s first ride in the Van Wagon. As you would expect, Coach did not disappoint.

This afternoon, I drove Coach through campus to show off his new ride to the LSU student body. A few impromptu stops were also made to hand out the new Van Is My Homeboy t-shirts, which are hot off the presses. Needless to say, there were quite a few surprised faces when Coach Chancellor was hanging out of the Van Wagon giving out t-shirts.

Make sure to watch The Lady Tiger Way blog, twitter and www.JumpOnTheVanWagon.com to find out where Coach Chancellor and the Van Wagon will be next, handing out t-shirts and meeting the fans.

Mike the Tiger - Our Live Mascot

Media_http3bpblogspot_lfnip
COURTNEY JONES (11-2-09):

The many wonders of LSU -- The name itself says a lot. The one thing that caught my attention was the live tiger we have on our campus. I mean other schools have dogs for mascots or birds, But we have a WILD tiger on our hands -- Mike the Tiger! I mean whose idea was this? I believe that it adds flavor to our campus and community. I helps bring people from all over to see what the roar is all about. Sometimes when we have 6am workouts on the track or in the PMAC we hear him roar. It’s a frightening feeling because we don’t know if he's out of his cage or just hungry! The team and I always talk about what we would do if he were to ever escape. Majority of us said run but what human can out run a Tiger? Then there’s the option of playing dead, but where would that leave us? I would probably be too afraid to even sit still that long.

Van and the Fans

TOM HARLUCOWICZ (11-2-09):
As the lead person for the marketing and promoting of LSU Lady Tiger Basketball, Van Chancellor is the dream head coach! Whenever you have someone in the lead position that has charisma and charm it's a good thing but the bonus is that Coach Chancellor genuinely loves people. In his two years, he has never said no to an appearance no matter how large or small the group or how early or late the start time. I know that during the season he is going hard to get our team ready to play but he has a great appreciation for helping us grow our fan base.

Our Little Helper For The Day

Media_http2bpblogspot_ffujj
VAN CHANCELLOR (11-1-09):
I always get excited about Mall Ball because I love getting out and talking to the LSU fans. One of the most enjoyable things about coming to Louisiana State University is finding out the great passion everyone has to everything from football to gumbo -- and of course, for Lady Tiger Basketball! Today though we got an extra surpise with a new "assistant." Tiffany Creel heads out tickets for women's basketball at LSU and she has an incredible work ethic and a great personality. She makes a difference in our program. Our fans know her by her first name because she cares about them. Well, today she introduced the Lady Tiger fans to her daughter Ava and Ava stole the show. She is just as cute as she can be and we all enjoyed her!

BOB STARKEY (11-1-09):
Well it didn't take long but the Van Wagon is already getting some great buzz out there! Today it was parked at the Mall of Louisiana while the team and Coach Chancellor signed autographs inside. But there was always a large gathering outside checking it out! It's really excited because this week we really put it to use! As we take our team out to various community service events we will be transporting them in the Van Wagon. Want an idea of where the Van Wagon will be? Check it out at:

Needless to say it was a great success as we signed for over 500 fans in a two hour span. The fans took photos, bought tickets and chatted with their favorite players. And of course Coach Chancellor was there as well as the Van Wagon which was parked outside. Here are just a few photos from Mall Ball...please keep coming back because we are going to post more!

JumpOnTheVanWagon.com

Media_http2bpblogspot_qrrbf
Just as we promised -- here's Phase II or our new marketing strategy. It is a new website to help promote Lady Tiger Basketball and will have a lot of entertaining venues for the fans as well as updating them on everything going on with the team, on and off the court. Again, we want to thank Craig Pintens, Tom Harlukowicz and Jason Feirman and all their staffs for the work on the website and van.

It is up and running and only a click away:

The new website focuses on the excitement of LSU’s season and it will be updated on a continuous basis. JumpOnTheVanWagon.com includes a video featuring the 2009-10 Lady Tigers and head coach Van Chancellor, ticket options, a promotional schedule and links to all of the Lady Tigers social media outlets (Twitter, The Lady Tiger Way Blog). One of the unique features of the website is that fans will be able to upload photos of Lady Tiger games from their mobile phones and cameras onto the website.

“JumpOnTheVanWagon.com is an exciting and interactive platform for Lady Tiger fans,” said Tom Harlukowicz, Marketing and Group Tickets Coordinator at LSU. “It will definitely get everyone anxious for the upcoming season.”
