Signing Autographs at Tiger One Village

Media_http1bpblogspot_dfirh
KATHERINE GRAHAM (10-24-09):

What a beautiful day in Baton Rouge today! We had an early morning practice which we like on Saturdays to give us the rest of the day to enjoy. We took an hour today to sign some autographs for our fans at Tiger One Village which is located outside the PMAC and has a ton of booths, food court and in a little bit a live concert! It's really amazing all the other stuff that goes on here during a football game.

LADY TIGERS & TEMEKA TO SIGN AUTOGRAPHS

Media_http1bpblogspot_xebub
BATON ROUGE – The 2009-10 LSU women’s basketball team and 2009 WNBA champion point guard Temeka Johnson will be signing autographs for fans from 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday in Tiger One Village prior to the LSU-Auburn football game.

Tiger One Village is located in front of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Johnson, former point guard for the Lady Tigers from 2002-05, helped the Phoenix Mercury to a best-of-five game series victory over the Indiana Fever in the 2009 WNBA Finals earlier this month. She became just the second former LSU women’s basketball player to claim a WNBA championship.

Johnson will also be honored on the field in Tiger Stadium in between the first and second quarter of the LSU-Auburn game. LSU head coach Van Chancellor will be on hand to make the presentation.

BIRTHDAY WITH MY TEAMMATES

Media_http4bpblogspot_mqoxj
COURTNEY JONES (10-19-09):
This past weekend was very exhausting, but at the same time fun. Beside the two-a-day practice held on Saturday, it was my 20th Birthday. What more could I ask for? I got to spend four incredible hours with my coaches going over drills and learning about our defense -- but that wasn’t the best part of MY day! Later that night I got to spend the evening laughing and joking with my teammates. We all decided to eat dinner at our local Outback Steakhouse and catch a movie.

At dinner we got a chance to relax and talk about things that were on our mind. We talked about a variety of things such as our favorite TV shows to our jean sizes. You could tell how empty our stomachs were by the way we ate because when our food finally arrived no one said anything. Then the waitress came out with a scoop of ice cream and candle while my teammates sang the Happy Birthday song. I was a bit embarrassed by their singing but I enjoyed myself. The movies were extremely packed that night. It was hard trying to find seats to watch the action-thriller “Law Abiding Citizen.” This film was very interesting. I believe this movie had everyone in suspense.

I really want to thank all of my teammates for spending their evening with me. They really helped make it an enjoyable and amazing one. If I could I would turn 20 all over again.

Leading the Nation's Best Band

Media_http3bpblogspot_bxixb
ALLISON HIGHTOWER (10-18-09):
Friday night was a special night for the Lady Tigers, both Basketball and Volleyball. First, we went to Temeka Johnson's Championship Celebration -- she did her thing and she deserved it ... hard work pays off!! After the celebration the team went to go support the Volleyball team in their Breast Cancer Awareness game vs. Arkansas and they won!! But the most exciting thing for me was that I got to conduct the Baddest Band from Tiger Land!!! They let me conduct the best band song ever "Neck" ...well I really did more dancing then conducting, but it was a good thing the band knew what they were doing. Until next time GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

KRISTEN MORRIS VISITS FROM ACROSS THE OCEAN!

Media_http1bpblogspot_aknda
COACH STARKEY (10-17-09):
We had a great surprise before practice today with Kristen Morris "called" from overseas to talk to our team. Gotta love Skype! Kristen over in Latavia playing and enjoying the experience -- I knew she would -- she always has a determined, positive attitude -- a really mentally tough individual! Everyone on the team got to talk to her before we got started and I think it really motivated our team to start of today's practice on a great note. Kristen was someone who gave her best everyday and I think "visiting" with her help refresh our team of her practice intensity. THANKS KRISTEN!

THE HIGHTOWER BOWLING SCOUTING REPORT

Media_http3bpblogspot_undnf
KATHERINE GRAHAM (10-12-09):
If I had to sum up Allison Hightower in one word I don't think I can! She is ALWAYS the life of the party! With anything she does she goes hard! Although she is a great basketball player her bowling skills need some improvement, but whether she gets a strike or bowls a gutter ball (which is most common), she has a dance or a gesture that is appropriate for the occasion. Always dancing and always making a joke is two things that you will commonly see her doing...rolling a strike is not!

A FUTURE VETERINARIAN

Media_http4bpblogspot_kftbu
DESTINI HUGHES (9-28-09):
Growing up, my family has always had animals in and around the house, and I think that is why I have such a love for animals now. I would like to be a small animal veterinarian, working with mostly dogs and cats. Right now there are five pets in our home but we've had a maximum of nine pets before. One of them is a sugarglider named Pockit which was actually my pet. But because I couldn't bring him to college with me I gave him

to my little sister. For those who don't know what a sugarglider is, they're like a smaller version of a flying squirrel. Sadly, they require a lot of attention and my little sister has become very busy with extra curriculum activities, so we are currently looking for a new home for Pockit. I am now taking a class called VETS which is my favorite class this semester.

OUR HAUNTED BONDING EXPERIENCE

ANDREA KELLY (9-25-09):
"There is no way," I said, as the thought of going into the 13th Gate Haunted House made me hyperventilate. However, the Lady Tiger Way is to do everything as a team, so we went on a mission to all come out alive. They made the team break up into two groups of seven, but it was more like two groups of one; everyone was holding on to each other for dear life! Allison was in front of me leading the way and I never let my tight grip on her loosen. In the darkness, fog, and wierd noises, all I recall is screaming, shrieking, and jumping at everything and even the thought of something popping out. The best part of that whole expereince was we all made it out safely in one piece! We truly bonded through that "challenging" journey and we know if we could get through that, than together we can get through anything.
