DESTINI HUGHES:
I didn't do anything spectacular over spring break but I still really enjoyed myself. I stayed in Baton Rouge for the break and really just hung out with friends, watched movies, slept, and worked out a little bit. The best part was not having to go to school and getting a much needed break!

TAYLOR TURNBOW:
This spring break I went to Savannah Georgia to visit a good friend of mine, and get a tan on the beach. I had so much fun seeing many of my friends from back home. The first night I was there, some friends and I went to go see the movie Hot Tub Time Machine and it was extremely funny. I had a chance to hear my friend sing at the Black Expo in Savannah with her Gospel Choir and it was amazing. Spring Break 2010 was awesome.

JASMINE NELSON:

What I did during spring break was travel to Panama City, Florida and did some things that I really never had gotten a chance to do... like going to the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum. It was a lot of fun we saw a lot of great things like the tallest man in the world (who he was 8'11), part of the Wall of Berlin and a Giant Hurricane Ball form Hurricane Betsy. It a was very fun experience and I really enjoyed it.

VAN CHANCELLOR (3-19-10)
Had a great treat for our team today by inviting a dear friend of mine to come by and say hello. I've known David Cutcliffe from my Ole Miss days when he did a wonderful job of directing the Rebels football program. He's now the head football coach at Duke and doing a tremendous job battling in the ACC. He took the time out to come by and meet our team and tell them about our friendship that he was a big fan of Lady Tiger Basketball. I'm really proud to have David as a friend and glad I had the opportunity for him and our team to meet today.

DESTINI HUGHES:

The Hall of Fame was an exciting experience. My favorite part was the video on the history of women's basketball, because it educated me on how females started playing the game and gave information that I never knew about before. My other favorite part was the behind the back skill challenge! I probably could have stayed at that station for hours, it was pretty fun. I really like that kind of stuff so I had a blast. Everything else was pretty cool to see and view all that women have accomplished so far in the game of basketball. It was also funny to see a picture of Coach Chancellor in his younger days...he was actually a nice looking young man believe it or not. But all in all, I had fun and am very thankful that I got the opportunity to see it!
NOTE: During our recent trip to Knoxville to play the University of Tennessee, we took our team to the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. From time to time over the next few weeks, we will have our players blog their thoughts on this special experience.

I loved the Womens Basketball Hall of Fame..Its was my first time being there and it was outstanding to see the care for women and the sport of basketball. It was sooo cool. I really enjoyed the video at the beginning of the tour...it really made it interesting wanting to know more as we went along. It has such a great blend of history and entertainment. I learned so much about our game that I hadn't realized. It was definitely a special trip.

One of the more enjoyabe moments at the Hall of Fame was watching our team try to re-create the famous weave of the All-American Red Heads. We started our tour with a video that had footage of the Red Heads playing. We then saw their touring station wagon. It was a great history lesson. ADRIENNE WEBB:

Today was a really special day for me. We started the day with a visit to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (WBHOF) in Knoxville, TN. We learned about the history of Women’s Basketball, and saw the pictures of players and coaches who have been inducted over the years. Our own Coach Chancellor became a member in 2001. We also toured the Rotunda to view the Ring of Honor where every year they display the jerseys of players who have made an impact on the game on a high school, collegiate, and professional level. As the 2009 Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year, I am honored to have my jersey hanging with those selected for this season. Allison Hightower’s LSU jersey is also featured with this elite group for the outstanding career she has had thus far. Even though I had visited the WBHOF last summer, this visit was even more special because I was able to share it with my teammates. I also think the visit inspired me to play with greater intensity in the big game vs. UT, by helping me focus on the things that helped me achieve that honor. With hard work, desire, and determination, I hope to be represented there again in the future.

BATON ROUGE -- LSU senior guard Allison Hightower will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the LSU baseball game on Saturday when the top-ranked Tigers take on William & Mary at 2 p.m. in Alex Box Stadium. Hightower plays her final home game at 2 p.m. Sunday as No. 20 LSU hosts Mississippi State on Senior Day in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Sunday’s game represents the regular season finale for LSU, who is vying for a 12th straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Lady Tigers were a 70-53 winner over Arkansas on Thursday night and have won four of their last five games. LSU (19-8, 8-7) is still in contention to earn a first-round bye for next week’s Southeastern Conference Tournament but the Lady Tigers need help with losses by either Vanderbilt or Georgia.

Tickets to watch Hightower’s final game are on sale now at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office, online at LSUsports.net or by calling 1-800-960-TKTS or 225-578-2184. Sunday's game will not be televised.

Tickets cost $10 for lower and prime middle seating, $8 for middle seating, $6 for upper seating and $3 for youth tickets. The “Friends & Family Four Pack” allows families four tickets, four hot dogs and four fountain drinks starting at $30. Group tickets start at $2. LSU student admission is free with a valid LSU ID.

In conjunction with Senior Day, LSU will be welcoming back several former players for its “Alumni Weekend.” Those players will be recognized at halftime of the game. The list includes Cornelia Gayden, LSU’s all-time leading 3-point shooter with 337 treys. Gayden played from 1991-95 and drained an NCAA record 12 3-pointers versus Jackson State on Feb. 9, 1995. The milestone still stands today.

Hightower will be recognized in a special pregame ceremony on the floor. The 5-foot-10 guard has won 99 games during her career at LSU and will be going for win No. 100 in her final home game. Hightower has been the Lady Tigers’ most valuable player and arguably the SEC’s most valuable player the past two seasons.

The following post and photos come from Lady Tiger Temeka Johnson who is playing overseas and ran into another Lady Tiger Hanna (Biernacka) Bouldwin thousands of miles from Baton Rouge where they once played together:

"It was so great seeing Hanna and reminiscing about the days we had at LSU. With all the years that past between us, it was still old times. Hanna has grown so much and her and her husband Maurice are making it slowly but surely over here in France. The Lady Tiger Love is strong and like the picture shows, it goes along way."

KATHERINE GRAHAM (1-15-10):
One of the perks of playing basketball at LSU is the charter flights. If you have never been on a charter flight it is an experience that will spoil you. Unlike commercial flights there is NO hassle. We dont have to arrive at the airport 2 hours early to check in, only to find out that your name has been placed on the "no fly list," which takes another hour to sort out. Nor do you have to worry about who you will be sitting next to, because you know it will be a teammate. Another benefit of a charter flight is as soon as the game is over we can leave wherever we are and head back to Baton Rouge no matter what time it is. Whereas on a commercial we have to spend the night and leave early the next morning. I have became very appreciative of the chartered planes. Until next time Lady Tiger Fans!

One of the ongoing traditions of the Lady Tiger basketball program is our annual Christmas Party that is highlight by "Secret Santa." Each player picks the name of another player without their knowledge and then purchases them a Christmas present to be given during the party. Over the past several years, Wayne and Diane Leader have been gracious hosts at the special Christmas retreat. Here's a look back at the wonderful evening our team shared together.

BOB STARKEY (12-22-09):

The last game before Christmas break is never an easy one. For the players there is so much to think about with the holidays upon us. They are working to play good basketball but have also spent time shopping for Christmas and packing to go home for a few days. For six of our players, there has been winter session classes. Not because they need them, but because they wanted to get ahead academically -- which makes our staff very proud! With the Southeastern game there was a lot of extra curricular activity so we were grateful to leave the PMAC tonight with a nice victory. Another great aspect of our game tonight was all the Lady Tiger alumni that came out including players Quianna Chaney, Temeka Johnson, Tae Tae LeBlanc, Khalilah Mitchell and Mesha Williams. The mini alumni reunion also included past managers, Erica Killum, Angelica Lodge and Brittany Ward. Something else special happened last night (at least in the eyers of our coaching staff) that the normal fan might not have noticed or appreciated. The LSU Band was perched in their normal spot to provide music and entertainment for the game even though we are three days out of Christmas. We appreciated their dedication so before the game our staff bought the band some pizza and after the game Coach Chancellor took the team over to them so say thanks personally -- it's The Lady Tiger Way!

BOB STARKEY (12-17-09):

Looking back on the first Sue Gunter Classic, one of the best memories I have is of the banquet. First and foremost, many thanks to Brittany Carvalhido and her managers for the countless hours in putting it together. It was special to see Skip Bertman, one of Coach Gunter's favorites attending and I had a chance to talk to Skip and hear some of his favorite Coach Gunter stories. Patrick Wright did a wonderful job as MC and share will all of us some his favorite Coach Gunter tales. A major highlight of the banquet was listening to Hall of Fame Doris Rogers who not only was a friend of Coach Gunters but a teammate at Nashville Business College. I learned two new things about Coach Gunter during Doris talk. The first was that she was an outstanding softball player. She batted second in the order and her role was to bunt the lead-off hitter over. And, in the true Coach Gunter fashion, she learned the skill to perfection. The other story that I first learned was that the night before she past, she told a friend of hers at the house, "to make some extra coffee for the morning because there will be a lot of people here." Even in passing Coach Gunter was taking care of us!

One of the new things that our marketing department has started this year is that we will have two or three Lady Tigers signing autographs after each weekend game. After the game, we run into the locker room to hear what the coaches have to say and then hustle up to the concourse to sign autographs. I must say I was shocked at how many fans stayed around -- just goes to show how great the Lady Tiger fans are and it's just another reason we love you all so much!

KATHERINE GRAHAM (12-14-09):

This past Saturday we had a special treat! After two weeks of practicing, and taking finals the coaching staff treated the entire team to dinner. This time we got the opportunity to pick the place. Latear (Tia) Eason had a great suggestion...Texas de Brazil! If you have never been there I strongly suggest that you make it a priority. Its a different experience to eating dinner. They have a lot of different types of meats that servers bring around to your table. They have a fully loaded salad bar equipped with a variety of different side items to complement their meats. Texas de Brazil gave us a chance to relax after a stressful week, eat a great meal, and spend some quality team bonding time. Over all the experience was unbelievable. Of course the best part was just enjoying an evening of conversing and laughing with my teammates! I cant wait to go again! Until next time Lady Tiger fans!

What a wonderful night last night! It was time for our annual Fast Break Club Hall of Fame Christmas Party. This was an event that has been a tradition for the Lady Tiger basketball program before I arrived and one that I've thoroughly enjoyed the past three years. We had a wonderful night of food and fun and I was honored to host the event at my house. I am so appreciative of my wife Betty, my daughter Renee, and our Director of Basketball Operations Brittany Carvalhido for putting the evening together. This is a very special group of individuals that have formed a powerful team of support. They are a big reason for our growth and success and it was great to spend an evening with them in the Christmas spirit!

LASONDRA BARRETT (12-6-09):

My favorite part of a road trip are the evening dinners. Thanks to Brittany, our director of basketball operations, we always get the best restaurant in that area that we travel to. Along with a good meal, our team gets a chance to spend quality time with each other, away from the basketball court and weight room. We discuss many non-basketball related topics, like the latest television shows, music, and the hottest fashions. We really enjoy this time because it gives us a chance to bond and learn something new about one another.
