Statement From LSU Coach Van Chancellor On The Legendary Coach John Wooden
“When I was in the WNBA, Ann Meyers Drysdale took me to his house and I spent nearly a full day with Coach Wooden. To this day, that remains one of the greatest moments of my life. I don’t know of anyone that has influenced the game of basketball more than he has. His influence as a coach and a person is legendary. He was a coach who appreciated women’s basketball and he was an advocate of women’s basketball. Everyone in our profession admired him and appreciated him for what he did for our game. He was the epitome of how everyone should live their lives, with class, dignity and helping others."
