Swayze talks about the first day workouts and the emphasis of the day

SWAYZE BLACK: Hey Lady Tiger Fans! Today was our first day of four player workouts and it was everything I expected. Our emphasis was "echo yells" and because my group consisted of four veterans we were expected to be heard and give great effort. The workout was very intense and the drills required a desire to get better, and I honestly believe we all had that desire! I think I speak for everyone when I say we’re looking forward to this upcoming season! Until next time tiger fans…

Coach Chancellor pleased with first day of workouts

VAN CHANCELLOR: We had our first fall practice of the year yesterday and our staff was really pleased with the overall effort.  We our a program that believes heavily in the fundamentals of the game and that was a major part of our work yesterday.  We did a two-ball dribbling and passing series with all the players and worked on the basics of the v-cut and the back cut.  With our post players we worked on our four seals as well as our Mikan Series and our perimeter players work on cuts off the down screen.  Probably our best group of the day was LaSondra Barrett, Swayze Black, Courtney Jones and Taylor Turnbow.  It was a 45 minute workout and their last 5 minutes was as strong as their first 5 minutes.  This is really important because we are stressing "finishing" in all we do this year.  I also was pleased with our freshman.  It is always a little bit more difficult for them because they are being thrown some new concepts and we are asking them to pick up a lot on the run.

Jeanne loves intensity of first Lady Tiger workout

JEANNE KENNEY: First day of individual practice equals not one easy/half-speed drill.  That's the intensity I love and expected since the first day I became a part of the Lady Tiger family. It's a great way to see your teammates strengths and weaknesses as well as my own.  The good news is -- we can only get better!
